Binaural Directionality III is the latest advancement to help users hear speech in noisy environments, the most difficult listening situation. 

It does not rely solely upon narrow directionality and a strict focus on sounds in front of a listener, like other premium hearing aids. Binaural Directionality III gives users the best balance of sounds in front, to the sides and from the back to easily monitor their surroundings for the most natural listening experience.

The most advanced directionality yet

Binaural Directionality III uses ear-to-ear technology in a meaningful way. The exchange of information between ears enables improved hearing in noise and delivers more of the sounds we naturally hear from the sides and back. The improvement from the highly effective previous generation shows how users can monitor even more sounds around them. This gives them access to a more accurate picture of the acoustic environment, so their brains can process and categorize sound for them, not their hearing aids.

Better Ear/Situational Awareness Metric (BESA)

The balance between the sounds we hear in front of us and those from the sides and back is important to our ability to understand speech, where sounds are coming from, and to monitor any sounds around us, if we need to quickly shift focus. This metric is based on a model of binaural hearing, and quantifies how the combination of microphone responses on each ear allow for improved signal-to-noise ratio (Better Ear Effect) and audibility of surrounding sounds (Situational Awareness). The normal, unaided ear serves as the reference for this model, and was carefully considered in the design of the directional system for ReSound LiNX 3D™.

Results of the BESA metric for various directional hearing aid solutions on the market clearly show that ReSound LiNX 3D combines hearing sounds from the front, sides and back the closest to the unaided ear, for the most natural hearing experience.
